My boy Bishop dropped this one in my ear a couple weeks ago, and I just can't get enough of that good stuff. Bish and I on any given day have VERY different musical preference, but we totally are in agreement that Love/Art Memoirs EP is a project you can't deny. Alex Isley, and yes she IS an Isley...you know the legendary Isley Brothers. It's a must that I clarify and take the youngstas to school right quick LOL. Rhythm & blues, soul, funk and sweet expressions of that good ole, strong love flow through her blood giving her no choice, but to hit you in the gut with her piercing lyrics. Her sound is like cashmere soft and warm, but when you look closely it appears to be rough. Love/Art Memoirs includes you on an emotional roller coaster taking you higher with songs like "Into Orbit", "Don't Do" and a few low notes with songs like "F.D.A" and "Set In Stone". This album reminded me of how good love can feel and how much it hurts when love decides to leave. Everrrrrry single song on this album is a fav. Alex Isley's Love/Art Memoirs debut satisfies my appetite with the 5+ minute songs, but when that last kick and snare hits, and the warm pad trails away I'm eager for more of whatever Alex Isley is bringing to the table. Oh, and let me mention that she wrote, arranged and produced this entire project herself...uhhhh that's major additional points in my book!!! She's just showing off now ;-)))) Go on ahead I'm totally looking forward to what's to come from her. Stay connected to her through her Twitter or Facebook and make sure you look out for her next project Kiss of Life, Redux 8/1/12.
