Feral Cat is a punk-pop band out of the Mission district in San Francisco, CA dropping their first full length untamed record "jobz". This album was a great experience for me on several different levels. The band consists of Paul Montes (vox/ukele/guitar), Jessamyn Cuneo (vox/drums) and Michael Santer (bass), and with just three bandmates they created such a big sound on this record that will really make you wanna rock out, but at the same time listen and decipher the lyrics. I have a weak spot for drummers...period...but when I find out that a woman is keeping the time, in a male dominated position it makes me proud! I've tried my hand at a drum kit and man oh man let me just say that was NOT a pretty scene. Okay, so back to 'jobz'. I really find it interesting that we all come from different walks of life, and we express ourselves differently, but the underlying message is similar. We all want love, but question where it went wrong. We want to be treated fairly from authority figures, and many of us strive to keep our heads up even while we are struggling waiting on the brighter days. So, whether your form of expression is through 808s or screaming, distorted amps we have the same story, and I truly appreciate when I feel that from the Music. My last remarks about this album is that Paul Montes' voice is such an instrument. I know artists don't like to be compared to other artists, but after listening to these songs Paul's voice reminded me of Jim Morrison, Anthony Kiedis and from time to time the ukele he strums. Pretty cool. Alright, well support Feral Cat by purchasing their music from their Bandcamp site, and like their Facebook page to stay up on these cats hee hee pun intended.
