The good folks over at Afro Punk posted a video of a violinist playing along to Miguel's "Adorn", so of course it caught my attention to press play. For one, I la la la LOVE strings, and I also have a special place in my heart for Miguel's music. I was blown away by Damien Escobar's personality and performance on the video, so I looked up his referenced mixtape "Sensual Melodies". I discovered that I KNOW this guy, he's one-half of the Emmy award winning duo Nuttin' But Stringz who I've been following for quite some time. I've been wanting to feature them on Really Not Radio for the longest, and finally the time is now to at least get one of the brother's on the site. Perfect timing to be apart of instrumental, beat, slaps month here on Really Not Radio.
Dame Esco's "Sensual Melodies" mixtape, which is the romantic first installment of the 4-part mixtape series hits the sweet spot. He picked some of my favorite classic and contemporary R&B songs for this project, and he did every single song justice with his beautiful instrumentation. His crooning violin is the perfect supplemental vocal over the beat. So, delicate, so right. My goodness. I can't wait for you to hear this. Trust me you won't want this romantic, emotional journey to end. He will leave you wanting more. As usual make sure you support gifted artists such as Jamaica, Queens' own Damien Escobar by downloading or purchasing his albums, attending shows when he's in a city near you or simply connect with him on your favorite social network!
