Vintage Nation is a band full of talented musicians out of Atlanta, GA who, mark my words, will make their mark in this here music game. They have the determination, the talent and the right heart to achieve all of their dreams. When I first came across Vintage Nation I was drawn to their passion and the feeling that radiates from their music through the message and each strum of the guitar. I discovered Vintage Nation from a contest ONEMusic Fest held for the Atlanta, GA show. Let me just say their raw talent blew me AWAY, and I've been hooked ever since. I can never quite figure out what draws me to certain artists, but I just know it when I hear it, and Vintage Nation has got that "IT" factor working in their favor all day. They are currently working on an EP and other visuals for your viewing pleasure, so make sure to show your support by keeping up with all things Vintage Nation by linking up with them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as purchasing the catchy, witty song that poses the question, "What do heroes do when they are brokenhearted?". Great question and genius concept. Purchase the single "Brokenhearted Hero" right here. SUPPORT THAT REAL GOOD, FEEL GOOD MUSIC! Please get to know a bit more about Vintage Nation from the conversation we had below. They are good people AND they make great music. Really Not Radio: I read the story of how Vintage Nation formed, and performed the same day. How much of fate do you think came into play for the creation of Vintage Nation?
Vintage Nation Ink: I believe it was meant to happen the exact way it did! I don't believe in coincidences, its all about divine timing and i know it definitely played a major part in the creation of the VN.
Vintage Nation Jow: I knew it was fate when it happened bc i knew i was opening a new chapter in my life, for what may be later success.
RNR: What's behind the name or significance of Vintage Nation?
VN: The name is just classic and represents us as what some people may call "old souls", it's like we all hopped in a time machine and were made to create music. Its a beautiful thing. It represents Family and a tight unit of creative folk preserving the cool, soul and love.
RNR: Yes, Vintage Nation does give that good feelin'. Vintage Nation has performed everywhere from parking garages to Occupy ATL to venues. Where has your most meaningful performance been to-date?
VN: We would say when we performed at the Troy Davis Rally. It was an energy that we will never forget. We started at the capitol then marched downtown throughout the city, it was impact-full and it was unity and love and so much love as we all stood in solidarity with our brother Troy Davis. It was a true moment of a live soundtrack to the streets. just like every other day, but this event was one of national concern. When it comes to our community we are def. involved and right there hands on. / guitars on too
RNR: Amen. I know, I bet that was a touching moment. Is Vintage Nation just Ink & Jow or are their others who support your sound?
VN: You know when we started this journey we had a vision of more than the two of us, just like a tribe of creators who are incredibly talented, and we are a family, there is definitely more to VN than INk & Jow...Also in the VN is Keeyen an amazing musician, Philip Michael, awesome guitarist vocalist, JT is our amazing drummer, Talent is a spoken word lyricist, Its a nation of amazing artist and as we evolve you will continue to know and love the members of the VN. Its so much bigger than the 2 of us. At any given moment at a live show you may see 1 of us to 6 of us. That's the beauty of it.
RNR: That is a beautiful thing, I mos def feel the energy and look forward to hearing and seeing more from the VN. I'm excited cuz I know it is going to be great and change lives and VN will make a mark in this here world through MUSIC! What instruments do you play?
VN: We all play guitar!!! And keys, and vocals....our latest toy is the harp!
RNR: Whaaaaat, can't wait to hear the harp incorporated into your sound. I'm a big fan of strings. At what moment did it click that you wanted to pursue music?
VN Jow: The time i went home to see my grandfather in the nursing home and I played my instrument and i knew i had to do it seriously from then on, that was about 3 months ago....and since then Ive been rolling and never looked back.
VN Ink: For me i knew as a kid, early on, esp after i realized i wasn't going to the wnba lol, it really clicked but i always knew i wanted to do music and would not be happy doing anything else. it was like a calling from Jah. and I have to fulfill that gift. can't stop.
RNR: Can't stop, won't stop. I love how you two have committed to your purpose, and won't look back. What's Vintage Nation's ultimate goal or overall message with creating and sharing your Music?
VN: Our goal is simple. To love as many as we can, as long as we can, as well as we can. To inspire and help people while using our gifts. Its all about love. We want to share our love for music like God has shown us his love for us. and with that being said we will be probably sharing music with the world until we die.
RNR: YES! I LOVE IT! What do you enjoy most vibing out, and just letting the Music move or penning and planning your songs?
VN: lol hahaha....Thats easy!! We love vibing out and letting the music take control. It's nothing forced about the way we work and feel our craft. The music always speaks louder than any directions given!!! Its the best process ever, we feel we can really be ourselves and the music does the rest. its pretty cool.
RNR: Music to me is very spiritual, yes I take it that serious. It's a healer and a leader and soooo many other things. It's so cool to meet others who understand the feeling aspect of Music. What are your passions other than music?
VN: Ummmm, mainly Art!!! God, Traveling, Cooking....cooking is so cathartic for us lol. Golfing, Sports. & Film making.
RNR: Sounds like lots of fun and good food is being enjoyed LOL. Blessings all around. What inspires you to keep pushing towards your desires?
VN: Life, the struggle and really our families. and the people who tell us to never stop, we meet sooo many people along our journey who always tells us no matter what to never stop. that really helps knowing that your music helps people get through hard times.
RNR: Yep, you guys understand this life. It's full of struggle, but you just have to keep pushing and knowing that you are living your purpose God will work out all the details of giving you your hearts desires. At night when you reflect on your day what makes you say "today was a good day"?
VN Jow: laughing! everyday im alive really, ink jokes. Everyday i accomplish a planned goal.
VN Ink: I think everyday im able to meet people, or connect with society in some form of way, its been a good day. anytime i get that warm and full feeling after a long day of grinding, i know its worth it!
